Flip Ultra HD Wide Angle Mod Test Video w/ How-to

Put together a quick test video to show the differences between the regular Flip Ultra HD lens and the wide angle lens mod. The Flip is such a great little camera, the only hindrance being the lens. With this mod you can capture so much more. The wide-angle lens is a Sunpak 0.5x wide-angle lens which I purchased from Best Buy for . Cheap, easy mod with great results.

Yes, it would. The regular Ultra has the same external lens as the HD version so this trick should work fine.

Yeah, Cobb short ram intake. Cobb springs. Rear motor mount. Mostly minor stuff.

@Janstarr I mounted it with a Gorillapod on my rear door handle, it’s a cool little camera tripod with flexible legs you can wrap around stuff.
will it work with the mino hd?and can u put other lenses on it,like a birds eye lense?

Thanks for posting this. Most of the lenses I’ve been seeing today since I started reading about this mod are magnetized and attach to the ring like that. When you put on the lens it appeared you were screwing it in place, is that right? That seems like a much more secure mount to me.
And now that you’ve had it for a few months, have you had any problems or noticed any annoyances with it? (I’m thinking it would be much more difficult to store in a pocket with the ring adapter)
@ltcarter47 Yeah, the Sunpak lens kit is screw on so it ends up being pretty secure. Been using it for awhile now with nothing but good results. It gets a little tricky to store in a pocket with the ring, but not too noticeable. Overall, it’s a great little mod and stretches the camera a little further.
